Malaysia Healthcare has moved from strength to strength in the last few years. The country was named “Medical Travel Destination of the Year” at the Medical Travel Awards 2015 by the International Medical Travel Journal, and “Best Country in the World for Healthcare” by International Living’s Global Retirement Index 2015 and again in 2016. Malaysia was also honoured as the “2015 Public Private Partnership Medical Travel Destination of the Year” at the 8th Annual World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress in Orlando, Florida (USA) last year. In 2011, over 5,000 Bangladeshi patients sought treatment in Malaysia and encouragingly this figure rose to over 18,000 in 2014 averaging a growth rate of 61%.
“We strongly believe that Malaysia has the right qualities for achieving greater heights in international healthcare travel: excellent quality in healthcare services, accessibility and affordability. To top it off, it is easy for travellers to communicate with health professionals here, where English is widely spoken, and matched with strong government backing and commitment from the private healthcare sector, Malaysia has everything it takes to achieve our ambition of being number one in the world for healthcare travel. As Malaysia’s reputation grows to be the preferred healthcare destination of choice, we will press on in our efforts to sustain Malaysia as a global force to be reckoned with,” said Megat Ardian.
Commenting, Syed Moinuddin said, "As the official representative office of MHTC, GD Assist works closely with various stakeholders to raise awareness on Malaysia healthcare and facilitate seamless end-to-end experience for Bangladesh patients travelling to Malaysia. We are extremely delighted to work with both Grameenphone Ltd. and Biman Bangladesh Airline in offering these healthcare packages from Malaysia. I am confident that with continuous efforts taken by all parties in spreading greater cognizance about the healthcare travel offerings in Malaysia, the country will become top of mind for medical tourism.”
