A Hundred Unsung Heroes: Ravidas Supramaniam – Housekeeping Manager, Sunway Healthcare

“The times were tough, but I’ve been blessed to have an understanding family. While concerned for my safety, they were supportive and appreciative of the work I did as a frontliner.”

I’ve been in the healthcare industry for almost a decade now, with a focus on housekeeping. As a housekeeping manager, my main task is to oversee the entire housekeeping services for the hospital.

When we first heard of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was of utmost importance that my team and I made sure that our hospital is clean and safe for both our patients and visitors. To this extent, we made some changes to our existing cleaning system in order to comply with the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health.

The onset of the pandemic also saw the team doubling our efforts in terms of disinfections – this included high-touch areas, entry points, seats and more. We were working around the clock and even created a mobile team to ensure the safety of our hospital. We made sure our uniforms were changed twice a day and every member was properly equipped with the right PPE.

The times were tough, but I’ve been blessed to have an understanding family. While concerned for my safety, they were supportive and appreciative of the work I did as a

frontliner. My wife and children constantly encourage me to do my best in playing a role that contributed to the safety of the nation.

I’d like to express my gratitude to fellow frontliners across the nation. This isn’t an easy job, it’s a lot of hard work and everyone should be appreciative of their efforts.
