On 18 March 2021, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) launched its national campaign ‘A Hundred Unsung Heroes’ – an e-book that chronicles the journey of 100 frontliners who have been at the forefront of the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The e-book delves into the stories from men and women from various walks of life that embodied national unity and integrity in times of crises. From medical professionals, military workers, non-government organisations to food delivery personnel, each frontliner has sacrificed their wellbeing to go above and beyond to ensure the safety of the nation.

• “With both of us being frontliners, we decided to live apart until the numbers started declining. For about five months, my husband and I lived apart for the safety of our child and our families. It was a tough decision to make, but it was necessary for the greater good,” – Nabilal Zakaria (Diagnostic Radiographer, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur)

• “Despite the challenges, I found this to be a truly life-changing experience. Having a strong purpose gave me strength to continue moving and hope for a better future,” – Dr. Lleika Kunaselan (Medical Officer, Hospital Ampang)

• “While I don’t have a medical background, I knew that my team needed my assistance from an operations and management point of view. So, there I was, dressed in my PPEs, ready to step in and help out, where I could,” – Janet Kok (Commercial Development, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur)

• “At the end of the day, we need to be kind and help one another through this because everyone is fighting the same battle,” – Abdul Halim bin Aldin (Assistant Security Officer, Sunway Healthcare)

Their stories remind us that our battle against COVID-19 takes a village to combat and we should be vigilant to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures to keep each other safe.
