SPAIN, 24 MAY – The Malaysian healthcare travel industry proves its mettle yet again with its second consecutive sweep of awards at the IMTJ Medical Travel Awards 2016, hosted by the International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) in Madrid today.

Malaysia Healthcare leads the pack with winning the prestigious “Health and Medical Tourism: Destination of the Year”. The win marks the second consecutive year Malaysia Healthcare is recognized as a healthcare travel destination of excellence, having won the “Medical Travel Destination of the Year” title at the same awards in 2015.

Malaysia’s success at the awards comes quick on the heels of MHTC’s recent win at the 2016 Asia Pacific Healthcare & Tourism Awards Gala, hosted by Frost & Sullivan and Global Health Travel in Bangkok on the 18th of May, where the Council was conferred “2016 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Travel Council of the Year – Medical Tourism”.

As a coordinating agency, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council strives to facilitate the focused development of the healthcare travel sector in Malaysia, which includes building strategic public-private partnerships domestically and abroad, in a bid to create increasingly easier access to Malaysian healthcare for international patients.

The award proves further testament to the agency’s success at building bridges within international healthcare travel, adding to its long list of accolades, which “Best Country in the World for Healthcare” by International Living’s Annual Global Retirement Index 2014-2016 and “Public Private Partnership Medical Travel Destination of the Year” at the 8th Annual World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress.

The IMTJ Medical Travel Awards 2016, organised by the International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ), embraces many of the themes that challenge healthcare providers across the world – insurance, accreditation, marketing and promotion, quality, patient safety, levels of care and experience in treating international patients. It seeks to encourage the continued provision of excellence in healthcare services delivered and for the industry to maintain a high reputation where patient expectations are consistently met.
