CEO's Message

Dear All,

Drawing closer to the end of 2019, I always take the time to look back over the past year and relive the victories and challenges we at Malaysia Healthcare have been through. Though there were moments when we felt the going was getting tough, we persevered and pressed forward. Obstacles did not stop us from aspiring to achieve even greater heights.

As a team, we have achieved so much this year. 2019 marks the 10th year of the establishment of MHTC and to celebrate it we launched our Malaysia Healthcare Chronicles 2009 – 2019, which is downloadable at http://malaysiahealthcare.org/. We also were recognised as the world’s top healthcare travel destination by volume according to the Medical Tourism Facts and Figures 2018 by International Medical Travel Journal, cementing our position as the world’s healthcare marvel. Malaysia Healthcare has been only pressing forward achieving an impressive 1.2 million arrivals and RM 1.5 billion in hospital receipts, resulting in a total economic impact of RM 6.4 billion in 2018.This is truly a remarkable success for Malaysia Healthcare!

December brought glad tidings for Malaysia Healthcare as we were once again recognised at the International Medical Travel Journal Awards 2019, through two main awards. One being MHTC winning the Cluster of The Year 2019 award, making it a three-consecutive win for us at the International Medical Travel Journal Awards 2019. Malaysia was also awarded with the Highly Commended acknowledgement for Health and Medical Tourism: Destination of the Year award for the second consecutive year. To our industry stakeholders, this is an award that you, yes YOU, can admire proudly as a direct result of YOUR impeccable determination and commitment towards excellence. With your efforts, Malaysia has now once again been ranked among the most favourable destinations for healthcare by global peers. Kudos to all of you!

I have no doubt that these accomplishments have only added more fuel to the passion for excellence of all players along the value chain as we step into 2020.

Malaysia Year of Healthcare Travel 2020 (MyHT2020) is Coming to Town!

Running alongside Visit Malaysia 2020, MyHT2020 is the nation’s first international healthcare travel campaign. MyHT2020 invites everyone to seek health and wellness treatments in Malaysia, placing importance on physical and mental well-being whilst savouring all the beauty and culture Malaysia has to offer. Echoing the words of our Finance Minister, YB Tuan Lim Guan Eng, “MyHT2020 will be a stepping-stone towards creating larger demand for healthcare in Malaysia, hence creating a bigger need for healthcare professionals”. He also said that the campaign will be key factor pushing Malaysia towards becoming high-income nation. Such is the responsibility that we at Malaysia Healthcare are tasked with in ensuring a smooth and successful campaign that will benefit all the healthcare travellers that reaches our shores.

This campaign will also give us the chance to further solidify Malaysia as the leading global destination which only continues to grow. Therefore, as we did in 2019, let us give our best efforts throughout 2020 in ensuring the MyHT2020’s success further strengthening our mark as the world’s healthcare marvel!

We're All in This Together

On behalf of Malaysia Healthcare, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude towards your astounding perseverance, phenomenal work ethic and unwavering commitment that has played a pivotal role in securing Malaysia Healthcare’s place as an award-winning organisation on the global stage in the field of Healthcare Travel.

It is said that the power to create change lies within everyone. The ability to work together toward a common vision, the ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organisational objectives, is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. Bo Schembechler, one of the most victorious college coaches in history once said, “When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other-hand when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing”.

Happy New Year and let’s make 2020 a year of continuous successes!
