Warm Greetings from Malaysia Healthcare

Assalamualaikum and warm greetings! What an exciting second quarter of the year it has been for Malaysia Healthcare and our country too! To all the Muslim readers, I hope you had a fulfilling Ramadan and a wonderful Hari Raya.

The second quarter has been quite a rollercoaster – and I believe it is only going to get more exciting.

For one, we have been raking in a host of awards! A round of applause is due to Malaysia Healthcare for their outstanding performance this year! At the recent 2018 Asia Pacific Healthcare and Medical Tourism Awards, Malaysia’s leading private healthcare facilities bagged 17 awards during the event. A fortnight later, Malaysia Healthcare again claimed 9 out of 15 awards presented at the IMTJ Medical Travel Awards 2018. (More about these awards in our Healthcare Happenings section).

As a testament to fulfilling our purpose with excellence, Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) bagged the APAC “Medical Travel Organization of the Year Award” and the IMTJ “Health and Medical Tourism: Cluster of the Year”, both for the second consecutive year.

These wins are not the only excitement that flooded us in May. Winds of change arrived, sweeping us all into a historic moment in time.

Following the recent 14th General Elections, Malaysia has undergone a monumental shift in governance and I believe things are going to change from good to better! I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Yang Amat Berhormat Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for being sworn in as our seventh Prime Minister. Our nation has been in international headlines for perhaps the greatest “comeback story” – the former fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia, now a 93-year-old nonagenarian, returns to serve the country once again as the seventh Prime Minister. On behalf of Malaysia Healthcare, I would like to wish Tun Dr. Mahathir and Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah a very Happy Birthday! May Allah grant you good health and happiness all the days of your lives.

The subtext to this amazing piece of history is Malaysia’s dedication to providing world-class quality healthcare. Exclusively medically-treated in our country, our Prime Minister stands as an exemplification of what Malaysia’s excellent healthcare system can do for many more. While I can only speak for myself, I do hope we take a leaf out of his book and keep pushing for excellence in our respective fields just as our new leader who is a living example of the phrase “age is just a number”!

“Change”, as Heraclitus delicately puts it, “is the only constant”. Therefore, it is best that we embrace this truth for the sake of our own progress.

In tandem with this extraordinary turn of events, we have a whole new cabinet of ministers to look forward to. On that note, I warmly congratulate YBMK Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad and YBTMK Lee Boon Chye on their appointment as the new Minister and Deputy Minister of Malaysia’s Ministry of Health. Malaysia Healthcare looks forward to working with them and exploring new directions, milestones and achievements to accomplish within the healthcare travel industry.

With all the changes in the air, we have remained steadfast on the path towards attaining our 2020 goals. We are striving to achieve our 2020 targets and are pursuing our initiatives such as the positioning of Malaysia as the hub for Fertility and Cardiology of Asia among others.

Let us keep the gears running and continuously push for excellence in a dedicated and creative manner. We are capable of so much more and if we put our best foot forward, we are sure to achieve it!

Thank you.
