The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) today announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sherene Azli, will be ending her term effective 15 January 2021.
During her six-year tenure as the Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Sherene has catapulted Malaysia Healthcare’s standing in the healthcare travel industry, transforming the country from a Hidden Jewel of Asia to the World’s Healthcare Marvel. Her driving force in fostering public-private partnerships behind a sustainable healthcare travel industry resulted in some of the country’s top industry commendations including the quadruple wins as the ‘Health and Medical Tourism: Destination of the Year’. Her leadership has been instrumental in realising Malaysia Healthcare’s vision as the number one global healthcare travel destination by volume, welcoming nearly 1.3 million healthcare travellers in 2019 alone.
With the industry earmarked as a key economic growth driver for the country, MHTC’s mission to promote Malaysia as the World’s Healthcare Marvel remains steadfast. While the organisation is heavy-hearted to see the leave of such a passionate and dedicated leader, we are confident that MHTC will continue the #kitamenangsamasama spirit under the new leadership to provide long-term value to our international patients, public and private stakeholders, and partners.
